How do you interpret the world???

It is not the events in your life that shape you, it’s the meaning you give these events.....

Let me start by asking you a question, what events have occurred in your life that have led you to experiencing  sadness, pain , unhappiness ,joy ,love ,happiness, forgiveness ,abundance or a range of these  feelings and or emotions?

Inspiring Women: Anne Batt, The Quiet Philanthropist

When i think of an inspirational woman or the one who inspires me the most.. there are many.  So many who face the trials and tribulations of life with gusto and a cheery face and able to wear their troubles, yet still find the capacity to pour their love in bundles to others.

The most inspiring woman I have ever met on my journey so far is a lady named Anne Batt.  She has currently volunteered for Oxfam and previously Freedom from Hunger for over 50 years... 50 years.. it still blows me away when I think about it.

What Exactly Do You Mean by Brain Fitness? - Dr Jenny Brockis

This is the question I frequently get asked. Being brain fit simply means having the ability to use our brain to the best of its ability every single day. The best analogy is to physical fitness. Having a body does not imply we are automatically physically fit. We can however choose to improve our physical fitness with exercise and following a program. It’s just the same for our brains and choosing to become brain fit. It’s a choice available to all of us.

Motivation vs Inspiration

Instead of motivation, look for inspiration

Inspiration comes from the same word as spirit. When you are inspired, the spirit moves you."
-Deepak Chopra

I was listening to Wayne Dyer this morning when he described something I found very interesting, the difference between motivation and inspiration.   I always thought motivation meant you were inspired by an idea and chased it hard.. using your goal setting, mindset, energy and sheer determination to achieve it...

Honouring the Inner Child

Whilst watching my children play in the glorious sunshine, I decided to embrace my Inner Child and start bouncing on the trampoline!  For those of you with children, having 3 10 pound babies, this is not an easy task!

Whilst bouncing I started thinking what it means to embrace the Inner Child in all of us... and wondered when the last time we all stoped and took time out from our busy schedule to just switch off, have fun and connect with your inner child – no matter what whether your 5 or 105 we all need time to honour the child within.... so here’s 10 steps I came up with...

An attitude of gratitude

Gratitude uplifts the soul and renews the spirit, so why not practice your attitude of gratitude and start counting your blessings today?  I have include some of the things I was grateful for today to get you started...

A warm cozy bed on a rainy winter's morning, a cup of tea made for me by my son (without asking!), a crackling fire, a cooked breakfast, the silence of the morning with the clouds low over the trees, the smell of eucalyptus after the rain, the smell of freshly toasted bread, a bite of a fresh crispy apple, a heartful hug, a happy goodbye, my favourite song on the radio, stimulating conversation, a handwritten letter, finding a parking spot, working at what I love, a phone call from an old friend, the satisfaction of a job well done, a hearty dinner, an inspiring story, a long hot bath, the sound of rain, great workmates, angel wings and fairy dust, the love of my dog, chatting to neighbours, writing in my journal, homegrown vegies, human compassion, random acts of kindness, a sincere thank you...

If you can think through your day and realise what you are truly grateful for you can begin to appreciate the little things and focus on living and enjoying right now.

Kirsten Shearn on Tim Kenworthy-Youth Tree

I first met Tim Kenworthy at an Oxfam event I had organised for the CEO at the time.  Tim helped me carry some things to my car and from that moment.. my life changed.  I asked Tim what he did and he suddenly spoke very rapidly, and passionately, about something to do with volunteering, cheeseburgers and youth... It got me engaged.
